Taking Measurements

PROVIDING YOUR MEASUREMENTS

When you choose your item, you’ll have the option to enter your body measurements. Taking measurements is really easy. We have a detailed chart below. Don’t worry, we don’t style and tell — your details won’t be shared with anyone else!

We recommend that you do not round your measurements up or down to adjust your fit based on the silhouette of the item as it’s displayed on the site. Trust us – our team understands the cut and pattern of our styles inside and out, so you’ll always get the best results if you provide your exact measurements as they are. We also welcome an email from you with any special sizing or styling instructions for your order.

Check our standard size below. Also, Iryna Mologoko Couture recommend that you should follow our measurement guide to help you find out your exact size of shapes.

BEFORE YOU START TAKING MEASUREMENTS:

  • Be sure to measure over the undergarments you plan to wear when you wear the item

  • Keep your tape measure level and close, and don’t pull it too tight.

  • If possible, have a friend or family member measure you – it’s more accurate!

  • Just measure everything 2-3 times to be certain.

TAKING MEASUREMENTS

NOTE: Take only the measurements you need based on the item requirements your are purchasing!

WRITE DOWN YOUR MEASUREMENTS

*See explanations below*

1. NECK

Measure your neck circumference. Place the tape underneath your Adam’s apple so it makes contact with your skin and conforms to your neck. To find your Adam’s apple, tilt your head back and feel for a lump or protrusion. Place the tape underneath the protrusion.

2. BUST FRONT

It is measured nearly the same way as bust circumference but between the side seams and from the front.

3. BUST

This is a measurement of the fullest part of your bust or body circumference at the bust. It is a body measurement which measures the circumference of a woman’s torso at the level of the breasts.
How To Measure
Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your bust and center the tape on your back so it’s levelled all the way around.
Tips:
This isn’t your bra size!
Your arms should be relaxed, and down at your sides.
Wear the bra you’re planning to wear with your dress when taking this measurement.

4. UNDER BUST

The measuring tape passes right under the bust and under the shoulder-blades.
Wrap the tape around your ribcage right below your bust. Make sure the tape is leveled all the way around.
Tips:
When taking this measurement, your arms should be relaxed and down at your sides

5. WAIST

Measure around the narrowest part of your torso at your natural waistline. To find your natural waistline, bend to one side. There will usually be a crease where you bend. Often it is just below your ribcage: that’s your natural waistline. (Don’t worry if this seems higher than where you actually wear your pants and jeans.) Keep the tape measure parallel to the floor as you measure all the way around your torso.

6. SHOULDER TIP TO BUST POINT

It is taken from the apex of the bust to the shoulder tip.

7. WAIST TO HEM

This is the distance from your natural waist to the hem of the dress.
How To Measure
Hold the measuring tape at your waist while a friend pulls it down to the length you want your dress.

Tips:
When taking this measurement, stand straight with your feet together.
We define knee length as the area just around your knee caps. Measuring too high may result in a dress that is too short.
If this is a floor length dress please make sure you measure with wearing shoes.

8. SHOULDER

It is taken from the end of the shoulder seam closer to the neck to the opposite end of the shoulder seam. I recommend you should measure the sleeve length at the same time.

9. ARM EYE CIRCUMFERENCE

This measurement gives me the size of the sleeve hole that you are comfortable wearing. This measurement is entirely subjective and you can make it as deep or as tight as you are comfortable with.

10. SHOULDER TO WAIST

Measure from the base of the shoulder close to your neck to your natural waistline to the front through your bust tip.

11. BUST MIDDLE

This is the distance between the apex points of the breasts. It is taken strictly horizontally.

12. SIDE LENGTH

It is taken along the side from the waistline up to the lowest point of the armpit.

13. MID WAIST CIRCUMFERENCE

It is taken 5 inches (10-14cm) below the waistline. The measuring tape should be parallel to the waistline and the hips.

14. HIPS

Standing with your heels together, measure around your body at the broadest part of your hips. This will include the fullest part of your backside, too and should be just about where your legs meets your torso (this is approximately 8″ below natural waistline).

15. THIGH CIRCUMFERENCE

Wear shorts that are tight-fitting or go commando.
Do this measurement near a mirror, if you’re doing this yourself, to check placement of the tape.
Find the midpoint between lower part of the glutes and the back of the knee, or the widest part of the thigh.
Turning sideways to the mirror will help you determine if you’re in the right spot.
Wrap the tape measure around the midpoint of the thigh, pulling the tape measure so that it sits on the surface of the skin, but doesn’t compress it.

16. KNEE CIRCUMFERENCE

Take a tailoring measuring tape and wrap it around the biggest part of your knee (i.e.: over the kneecap) and take note of the circumference.

17. ANKLE CIRCUMFERENCE

Stand with your legs apart; do not sit. The ankle needs to be flexed to record an accurate measurement. When sitting, it is not flexed, and the measurement may be incorrect.

Wrap the tape measure horizontally around the narrowest part of the ankle. The tape measure should be snug but not too tight or too loose.

18. FRONT NECK TO WAIST

It is taken from the sternal notch down to the waist.

19. SHOULDER TO BUST

For the shoulder to bust measurement, hold the tape measure in the base of your shoulder close to your neck and measure down to bust point.

20. WAIST TO MID WAIST

Draw the tape from your waistline to the mid waistline ( about 5 inches (10-14cm) below waistline) along your side seam.

21. WAIST TO HIP

Draw the tape from your waistline to the hip line ( about 8 inches below waistline) along your side seam.

22. ARM CIRCUMFERENCE

Draw the tape around the upper arm about an inch or so below the armpit.

23. ELBOW CIRCUMFERENCE

Place just below the elbow and draw the tape around.

24. WRIST CIRCUMFERENCE

Circumference of wrist taken at the wrist bone. Place just across the wrist bone and draw the tape around.

25. SLEEVE LENGTH

To measure your sleeve length, place the tape measure on the spot of the shoulder where the arm begins to curve downward. This is typically the spot where your shirt or dress’s sleeve begins. Extend your arm so that there is not slack in the arm. Measure from that point on the shoulder, to the base of the wrist where your hand and arm meet.

SLEEVE LENGTH TO KNUCKLE
Start the tape at the very edge of the shoulder where the arm begins but not onto the shoulder top . Draw it down to the middle knuckle on the hand, not the finger . Arm should be straight down, hand relaxed, measurement taken on the outside of the arm . TIP- In order to not get too much length just make sure the tape is not on the shoulder top or onto the finger.

SLEEVE LENGTH TO WRIST
Start as above but just draw the tape to just below the wrist bone.

26. WAIST TO WAIST

Only needed if you are ordering pants or a 2 piece costume, or bodysuit-based dress.

Place the beginning of the tape in the front facing down where you would like the top of the waist line to start, draw thru the legs to the top of the waist line where it should end in back.

The rise (crotch depth) dictates how high the garment sits at the waistline.

27. BACK SHOULDER WIDTH

This is the distance from the edge of the left shoulder across to the prominent neck bone located at the center of the back of the neck continuing to the edge of the right shoulder.

How To Measure

Place the tape on “top” of the shoulders. Measure from the edge of the left shoulder across to the prominent neck bone located at the center of the back of the neck continuing to the edge of the right shoulder.

28. BACK SHOULDER TO WAIST

Measure from the “knob” at the base of neck (or bottom of jacket collar) to natural waist.

29. INNER LEG (INSEAM)

Start tape on the inside of the leg next to crotch and draw directly down to floor OR IF FOR SHORTS where you would like the shorts to stop.

30. HEIGHT

This is your body height.

Tips:
Don’t wear shoes when taking this measurement.

31. HEELS HEIGHT

This is the height of the shoes you are going to wear with this dress.

Tips:
This is the height of the shoes you are going to wear with this dress.
Please leave the shoe height as 0 inches unless you are purchasing a floor length dress.
