Welcome to Mologoko,

a woman-owned atelier nestled in Northern Virginia. We are a small, passionate team of skilled seamstresses and pattern makers, led by designer Irina Mologoko.

Each piece we create is a labor of love—carefully crafted, never mass-produced.

IRYNA MOLOGOKO

My father was an artist. My mother was a seamstress. Between the two of them, I absorbed the understanding that the most powerful thing a person can do is put beauty into the world with their own hands.

✦   ✦   ✦

At seventeen, I left Siberia.

I enrolled at one of Kiev's finest tailoring schools — couture construction, pattern drafting, the mathematics of a perfectly fitted garment. While studying fashion by day, I was pursuing a Master's degree in Computer Science in parallel. People thought that was strange. I thought it was obvious. Structure is structure, whether you're building a corset or a software system. Precision is precision. The eye that sees a crooked seam is the same eye that finds a broken line of code.

Then I spent years traveling. Europe. The world. I worked as a tailor, a graphic designer, a photographer, an IT manager. I kept collecting ways of seeing. I kept sewing.

WHAT WAS NEXT...

In 2015, I found myself in Washington DC with a spare bedroom, a sewing machine, and a conviction that women deserved something better than what the fashion world was offering them.

I started small. Genuinely small. A DIY website. Living room photoshoots. Dresses cut and sewn while the rest of the house was sleeping. I called it Mila Fashion then, after a version of myself I was still becoming.

The collars came later — and when they did, everything changed.

WHAT WAS NEXT...

The collars came later — and when they did, everything changed.

I had always loved what a collar could do. The way it reframes your face. The way it restructures an outfit from the neckline down. The way it carries centuries of meaning — power, refinement, authority — and places all of that onto a woman's shoulders in a single gesture. I started making them the way I make everything: with European couture precision, by hand, in the atelier I had built in Reston, Virginia.

✦   ✦   ✦

The Baroness Collection is what happened when I stopped treating the collar as an accessory and started treating it as architecture.

Each piece is made to order. Your measurements. Your color — from thirty-two options, because I believe the right color is the one you actually want, not the one a factory decided to produce that season. Each collar is cut, sewn, and finished by hand in our studio in Virginia. From a spare bedroom to an atelier. From a DIY website to a global brand-in-the-making. From Siberia to here.

I still make things from nothing. I always will.

11 YEARS in BUSINESS!

Mologoko'S VALUES:

LOCALLY AND ETHICALLY MADE

- We make every single garment in our own studio in Reston, VA USA.

- We appreciate slow fashion and craftsmanship. Our designs are cut, sewn, and hand-finished with a lot of care and attention. A team of seamstresses with incredible experience sew our detailed garments.

- We produce on demand to avoid wastage (as opposed to ordering large quantities from manufacturers just to get cheaper prices).

- We value work/life balance and believe that the welfare of our team is as important as other sustainable practices. We don't have unpaid interns, we work sustainable hours.

SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS

- The whole fashion industry is geared towards waste: even buying recycled fabrics leads to waste as, in order to get competitive prices you have to order big quantities. Therefore, we use the fabrics which have already been produced. The majority of our fabrics are the highest quality deadstock fabrics that come from the best Italian fashion houses. We source them from selected, reputable Italian distributors who have close connections with these brands and guarantee quality. We found this to be the best ethical option for a brand like ours.

- We reuse the fabrics from one collection to another to minimize fabric waste.

- We love animals and don't use any real leather or fur.

- We only use recyclable or recycled packaging.

INDEPENDENT

- We are a brand that is both 100% independent and 100% female-owned

- If you read till this point: we are so proud that you also care about ethical and sustainable fashion and we are sending you our love.

Customers Say...

” I absolutely love the feminine elegance, European chic, and creative play of color, texture and cut weaved into each Iryna Mologoko Couture piece. My personal collection includes a quartz jewelry set, silk flower shoe accessory which converts into a dress pin or a hair fascinator, and a backless stretch silk top. Each item is unique, versatile, precisely constructed and absolutely gorgeous. Every time I wear them I get tons of compliments and the inevitable question “where did you get it?” My biggest fashion dilemma, at present, is – which of the stunning dresses I want to order for my next back-tie event.”
